The Senior Associate Internal Audit plays a pivotal role in the Group's Internal Audit function, reporting to the Audit Director or Manager. This role is part of the third Line of Defence, responsible for performing risk-based audit testing on the company's entities. The Senior Associate Internal Audit will be accountable for executing testing indicated on the Internal Audit Programme, as agreed with stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

  • Internal Audit Function: Collaborate with the Audit Director or Manager to carry out audit engagements, ensuring thorough and adequate documentation of testing from scope to report delivery.
  • Reporting and Investigation: Assist in compiling periodic and consistent Board reporting, and participate in bespoke investigations/reviews as required.

Key Deliverables

  • Documentation and Communication: Ensure that Internal Audit Tests/Reports are properly and adequately documented, as agreed with relevant stakeholders. Maintain open communication with stakeholders, updating them on the status of audits and observations noted during testing.
  • Action Plans and Follow-up: Produce Internal Audit Reports for approval by the Director Internal Audit, and follow up on action plans for corrective actions related to audit findings or findings arising from other reviews.

Day-to-Day Operations

  • Knowledge Base and Skills: Maintain a knowledge base and skills required for the execution of internal audit tests, ensuring ongoing professional development.
  • Work Allocation and Communication: Timely allocation of work to ensure audit testing is planned, executed, and completed, while communicating guidelines to achieve audit objectives.
  • Evaluation and Escalation: Escalate issues that may arise during audit testing to the Director or Manager.

Team Collaboration and Development

  • Team Member Support: Assist the Director Internal Audit in hiring new team members, as required.
  • Professional Development: Actively participate as a team member, providing input on workstream planning, potential efficiencies, and set goals.
  • Goal Setting and Performance Measurement: Execute an agreed set of objectives and goals for measuring performance.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5 years of relevant experience in the financial sector, with a proven path of advancement, and a Bachelor's degree or significant experience in risk, compliance, auditor operations, or control functions.
  • Qualifications: Postgraduate and/or industry qualifications are desirable, such as CIIA or recognized accountancy qualifications.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as excellent people management skills and the ability to balance competing deadlines and stakeholders.
