Purchasing Manager Role

As a seasoned Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process from start to finish, ensuring that all purchasing activities are carried out efficiently and effectively.

  • Manage project and engineering items procurement
  • Review requests for proposals (RFxs) and manage procurement cycle with technical department
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and deadlines with vendors and suppliers
  • Evaluate bids and make recommendations based on technical and commercial factors
  • Coordinate with vendors and expediting items per engineering department's needs
  • Develop Procurement strategy
  • Build strong relationships with new and existing suppliers to meet company goals
  • Train new employees and support team members as necessary
  • Manage inventory levels and optimize stockroom operations
  • Prepare cost estimates and manage budgets to ensure successful projects
  • Serve as liaison between company and suppliers
  • Analyze data to inform strategic purchasing decisions
  • Supervise daily purchasing activities and allocate tasks among staff members
  • Maintain accurate supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation
  • Ensure procured items meet required quality standards and specifications
  • Provide regular updates to project team and management on procurement timeframes and spends

Purchasing Manager Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering
  • Certification/degree in Purchasing, Material Management or Supply Chain Management an asset
  • Minimum 15 years experience in Engineering Procurement
  • Chemical Industry experience desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP-MM module
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management and supply chain systems
  • Proven supervisory and management experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime as required
