Job Description

At Gentrack, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to join our Platform Engineering and Operations (PEO) team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, security, and reliability of our databases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take a technical lead on developing, building, and testing activities for platform architectures with a focus on database technologies.
  • Contribute to scrums, including roadmaps, sprint planning, and retrospectives as part of the PEO team.
  • Perform auditing, reporting, and other governance activities to uphold engineering standards and compliance of database technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for engineering improvements and complete engineering proposals for analysis and decision making.
  • Take a technical lead on deploying, operating, and managing activities related to platforms for database technologies.
  • Perform auditing, reporting, and other governance activities to uphold operations standards and compliance of databases technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and complete operations proposals for analysis and decision making.
  • Respond to database-related platform incidents, perform technical investigations, resolutions, and reviews.
  • Proactively monitor and maintain service health and performance of databases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role as a Database Administrator using SQL Server.
  • Working within ITIL service management frameworks and developing process improvements.
  • Working within agile methodologies with scrum teams, sprints, and kanban boards.
  • Working within a Dev-Sec-Fin-Ops culture and practice.
  • Technical skills in Advanced SQL Server 2016+ Standard or Enterprise Edition, Basic system administration of Windows Server 2016+, Basic networking understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and firewalls, Basic AWS cloud administration, RDS is desirable, Basic Atlassian service use of JIRA and Confluence, Basic source control of Git, Bitbucket is desirable.

Qualifications:

  • Essential qualifications or equivalent experience: MCSA Microsoft SQL 2016 Database Administration.
  • Desirable qualifications or equivalent experience: AWS SysOps Administrator Associate, MCSA Windows Server 2016, ITIL v3/4 Foundation.
