**Staff Security Engineer Role Description**

About this technical position:

We are seeking an experienced Staff Security Engineer with expertise in application security, penetration testing, and offensive security practices. As a hands-on technical lead, you will proactively identify and exploit vulnerabilities across our products and infrastructure, collaborating with engineering and security teams to design robust defenses.

This is a key technical role with significant influence over the company's security posture, from code to cloud. You will be responsible for implementing secure design patterns, integrating security tooling into CI/CD pipelines, and guiding product and engineering teams on secure development practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform code reviews, threat modeling, and architecture assessments to ensure secure application development.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure consistency across all applications.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to remediate identified vulnerabilities and design secure solutions.

Penetration Testing:

  • Conduct manual and automated penetration tests to assess technical weaknesses and business risks.
  • Create detailed reports with risk ratings and actionable remediation guidance.

Offensive Security:

  • Plan and execute red team operations to simulate advanced persistent threat scenarios.
  • Develop custom tools and scripts to test detection and response capabilities.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Mentor junior team members and evangelize security best practices.
  • Participate in investigations, threat hunting, and incident response activities.

Qualifications and Skills:**

  • 8+ years of experience in security engineering, penetration testing, or offensive security.
  • Strong understanding of secure coding principles and web security vulnerabilities.
  • Proficiency in scripting and development (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).
  • Experience with AWS cloud platform and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
