Senior Backend Developer / Tech Lead Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Developer to take charge of an existing backend system, drive its development forward, and lead a team of engineers. This is a high-impact role requiring deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and a hands-on approach.

  • Project Ownership & Leadership
  • This senior role involves taking full ownership of an existing backend project, driving it forward with minimal ramp-up time, and leading design and development efforts for new features, systems integrations, and refactoring projects.
  • Key responsibilities include coordinating with cross-functional teams including frontend, DevOps, QA, and product, managing the technical backlog, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring timely delivery.
  • The successful candidate will set direction for architecture and backend design with a clear vision, guiding and mentoring junior and mid-level developers, providing code reviews, feedback, and technical leadership.
  • Establishing and enforcing coding standards, design principles, and software engineering best practices is also crucial in this role.
  • Backend Development & Architecture
  • This senior position requires designing and developing scalable, maintainable backend solutions using Node.js, Express.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript, working with both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) databases.
  • Responsibilities include building and optimizing RESTful APIs and GraphQL services, architecting and working with monolithic and microservices architectures, with experience in de-coupled and domain-driven design.
  • The ideal candidate will implement secure authentication and authorization solutions (e.g., OAuth2, JWT), improve system performance, scalability, and observability, and drive sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives with agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
  • Excellent communication skills are required to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in backend development with strong experience in Node.js, Express, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Proficiency in database design and management (SQL and NoSQL) is essential.
  • A proven track record of experience with monolithic to microservices transition, API design (REST & GraphQL), and secure authentication systems is required.
  • Strong understanding of clean code principles, SOLID, DRY, and test-driven development (TDD) is necessary.
  • Experience with architectural patterns: Event-driven architecture, de-coupled systems, and service-oriented design is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Git, CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.), Docker, and deployment workflows is expected.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure as code is a plus.
