Job Description

This role presents an exceptional opportunity to spearhead a world-class DevOps and GitOps engineering management challenge, integrating operations management, software engineering, and product development into a single high-value position.

Our mission is to pioneer and prove innovative approaches to large-scale IS. We provide support for Canonical's operations while helping shape the company's managed application service offerings, elevating devops and cloud-native operations standards. We take infra-as-code to the next level by blazing a trail to model-driven operations, not only automating every business process but also sharing that automation as open-source packages used by others to drive their own operations.

The team works across the full technology stack, from bare metal to Kubernetes, including cloud and virtualization solutions. We work across the full range of infrastructure, spanning public cloud, private cloud, and edge environments.

With fully distributed, home-based teams in EMEA, APAC, and the Americas, you will lead a team in your time zone and report directly to a global director. Our focus is on finding candidates based in the APAC timezone.

This role requires a Linux and operations expert who can lead a high-performance team, driving collaboration and innovation. The candidate must be capable of mentoring engineers to improve their skills and implementing structured engineering and operations processes.

As an SRE Manager, you will be responsible for managing the operations engineers in your time zone, handling customer service management, managed services operations, and consistent product improvement engineering. Collaboration with internal customers, product engineering, and development groups is critical to success.

  • Lead daily agile devops practices with your team
  • Represent the IS team to stakeholders, customers, and internal teams
  • Coordinate and drive internal projects
  • Mentor engineers to enhance their skills
  • Measure and monitor team health indicators
  • Implement standardised engineering and operations processes
  • Ensure proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
  • Meet service level agreements with customer deployments globally
  • Deliver quality managed services consistently and on-time
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience in software delivery using infrastructure as code
  • Experience managing DevOps teams for SAAS or similar offerings
  • Understanding of testing methodologies and maintainable code quality
  • Technical aptitude for complex distributed systems
  • Experience with cloud topologies and technologies
  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events up to two weeks long
  • An exceptional academic record from both high school and university
