High-Level Overview:

We are seeking researchers with strong mathematical and analytical backgrounds to contribute to the fine-tuning and evaluation of large language models (LLMs). Your work will involve enhancing the ability of LLMs to understand and solve complex math problems.

Key Research Objectives

  • Determine the number of symmetric matrices of rank 2 whose entries are only 0 or 1.
  • Find the number of subsets of a 10-element set with exactly 3 elements in their characteristic vector.
  • Count distinct 10-digit numbers where the sum of digits is divisible by 3, and each digit is either 0 or 1.

These objectives are designed to identify model weaknesses and improve training and evaluation processes.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Academic Background: PhD/Postdoc in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to solve advanced math problems with clear reasoning.
  • Communication Skills: Clear explanation of complex topics and precise feedback.
  • Research Independence: Ability to work independently and actively participate in team discussions.
  • Technical Setup: Reliable computer and internet access for remote assignments.

Note: This position requires a PhD completion or enrollment; applications without this criterion will not be considered.

Commitment and Engagement Details

  • Time Commitment: At least 4 hours/day and minimum 20 hours/week with overlap required.
  • Engagement Type: Contractor assignment/freelancer.
  • Duration: 1 month; expected start date next week.
  • Selection Process: Task-based assessment followed by contract offer.
