Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team. As a key member of the organization, you will play a crucial role in supporting our operations in The Gambia and helping us achieve our goals through robust contracting, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and negotiate contracts for our core products and services to protect our commercial and legal interests.
  • Manage and improve contracting processes, including policy implementation, contract management software, e-signature tools, and archiving.
  • Implement group legal policies and propose improvements based on legal developments and industry best practices.
  • Manage claims and disputes, including case management, mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
  • Provide legal support on employment contracts, disciplinaries, and terminations.
  • Organize board meetings and manage secretarial matters for the Gambian entity.
  • Work with the Risk & Controls teams to implement mitigations for legal risks.
  • Support implementation of the data privacy compliance strategy.
  • Advise on licensing and regulatory matters in collaboration with the wider legal team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law from a leading accredited institution.
  • Qualified lawyer in an Anglophone African or Commonwealth jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years of in-house experience in technology, finance, fintech, or mobile money, preferably with a leading regional or global organization.
  • Fluency in French is a significant advantage.
