Environmental Modelling Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Modeller to develop and implement components of the Agricarbon Ecosystem Model (AEM) using Python.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with agricultural ecosystem models including plant growth models, soil organic carbon models, soil water models, mineral nitrogen models, and grazing models.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Model Development: Developing and implementing components of the AEM using Python.
  • Model Integration: Integrating different AEM components to ensure seamless data flow between plant growth, soil carbon, water, nitrogen, and livestock models within the Bayesian data assimilation framework.

The ideal candidate will have advanced programming skills in Python, extensive experience with environmental modelling, and excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Required Skills:

  • Programming Expertise: Advanced Python programming skills, including proficiency with scientific libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, and GeoPandas.
  • Environmental Modelling Experience: Proven experience developing and working with ecosystem models or related areas.
  • Code Quality Focus: Experience with software development best practices, including version control (Git), testing frameworks, and code documentation.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with extreme attention to detail and a rigorous approach to model development.
