Senior System Engineer

Cryptocurrencies have gained significant traction, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in finance. We're seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team and help us achieve our mission of expanding economic freedom worldwide.

As part of our Platform Product Group, you'll have the opportunity to tackle complex challenges in the industry. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers, designers, and product managers to design, build, and maintain our platform, ensuring it remains scalable, secure, and compliant.

Our ideal candidate is passionate about creating an open financial system that unites the world. They possess 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on architecting large-scale distributed systems. They've designed, built, scaled, and maintained production services, and know how to compose a service-oriented architecture.

Some key responsibilities of this role include:

• Designing and developing platforms for payments organizations
• Providing technical guidance to teams and working closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
• Creating new services to meet critical product and business needs using Golang and Java
• Designing scalable systems to solve novel problems with modern cloud technology and industry best practices
• Developing a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling our backend systems and the teams running them

We're looking for someone who is passionate about innovation, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a bias toward open, transparent cultural practices. Experience with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks, as well as familiarity with blockchain technology, are desirable.

• Architect and develop platforms for payment organizations
• Provide technical leadership to teams and work closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
• Build new services to meet critical product and business needs using Golang/Java

• Develop a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling our backend systems and the teams running them
• Work with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn our product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter
• Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs. Debug difficult technical problems, and make systems and products easier to deploy, own, operate, and diagnose
• Review feature designs within your product area and across the company for cross-cutting projects. Be an owner of the security, safety, scale, operational integrity, and architectural clarity of these designs

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering
• 4+ years of experience in architecting large-scale distributed systems
• Designed, built, scaled, and maintained production services, and know how to compose a service-oriented architecture
• Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs
• Passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together
• Strong technical skills for system design and coding
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a bias toward open, transparent cultural practices

• Rapid growth in a previous company (from startup to mid-size)
• Experience with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks
• Experience with blockchain technology (such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.)
• Knowledge of Golang, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB
