DISH Network Technologies, an EchoStar Company, is reimagining the future of connectivity with a 5G wireless network from the ground up.

Job Summary

As a Staff 5G RAN Systems Engineer, you will interact closely with key partners and technology development teams to pioneer the development of the nation's first virtualized, standalone 5G wireless network.

Responsibilities

  • You will participate in vendor engineering reviews of hardware/software development in lab proof-of-concept environments.
  • You will perform technical evaluations of major system enhancements and major new customer requirements.
  • You will be a key subject matter expert from RAN and support entry/exit criteria for new software loads/releases migrating from sandbox to integration, pre-production, and production environments.
  • You will support FOA/FFI testing and evaluation.
  • You will provide lead support with market teams to troubleshoot/resolve complex issues with deployed RF and RAN systems.
  • You will engage and escalate issues with vendors when critical/time-sensitive support and resolution are needed.
  • You will develop key metrics for performance monitoring and service assurance.
  • You will coordinate proposed changes with certification labs for validation.
  • You will produce updated technical specifications of system changes and provide a comprehensive plan for release.
  • You will ensure solutions meet key criteria for CI/CD, system orchestration, and automation.
  • You will work with technical writers/engineers to document final process configurations and MOPs to support field operations.

Requirements

  • You will have a passion for working on new technologies in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment.
  • You will have an extensive understanding of 5G ORAN split functions (7-2x, RU, DU, CU-CP, CU-U).
  • You will have an extensive understanding and experience in RAN/vRAN software architectures in a virtualized environment.
  • You will have an extensive understanding of RF radio operations over eCPRI interfaces, including CSR, DU, and timing configurations.
  • You will have an extensive understanding of software systems/services running virtualized ORAN functions.
  • You will have an understanding of latency considerations and issues from gNB to data center locations.
  • You will have an understanding and experience with virtualized networks, orchestration, and automation across a large network architecture.
  • You will have a thorough understanding of vRAN/ORAN architecture described in 3GPP standards (Rel 15 & 16).
  • Rf design, optimization, and performance improvement experience is a plus.
  • You will have a deep understanding of LTE, VoLTE, 5G VoNR L2/L3 call flows with the ability to understand and analyze traces (PCAP, GNB traces).
  • You will have a degree in electrical, electronics, computer science, or telecommunications engineering (masters or PhD will be favorable).
  • You will have 14-18 years of experience in the wireless industry.
  • You must be self-motivated, able to manage simultaneous events efficiently.
  • You must be able to achieve goals by working professionally with other team members.
  • You must have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to interact with technical and non-technical teams.
  • You must be a curious-minded person striving for continuous learning and innovation.
  • You must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
