Job Title: Laboratory Technician

About the Position:

We seek skilled and detail-oriented laboratory professionals to support teaching, research, and practical training in various departments. The role involves managing laboratory operations, assisting faculty and students during experiments, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree/Diploma in relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Prior experience in laboratory work or technical assistance is desirable.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures, equipment handling, and maintenance.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with relevant software.

Preferred Skills (Domain-Specific):

  • Life Sciences: Familiarity with microbiological, environmental, or zoological lab techniques.
  • Forensic Science: Knowledge of forensic sample handling, analytical instruments, and evidence management.
  • Agriculture: Exposure to soil testing, crop/plant analysis, and agricultural lab tools.
  • Computer Applications: Experience with software installations, programming tools, and troubleshooting in computer labs.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, set up, and maintain laboratory equipment for practical classes and research activities.
  • Assist faculty and students during laboratory experiments and demonstrations.
  • Ensure proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and materials.
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory and laboratory usage.
  • Implement laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with guidelines.
  • Provide technical support for departmental research projects.
  • Assist in procurement of laboratory supplies.
