Chief DevOps Officer

The DevOps strategy is a key aspect of our organization's engineering team. This role plays a crucial part in shaping and advancing the organization's DevOps culture and capabilities.

This individual will spearhead the implementation, integration, and ongoing refinement of DevOps methodologies across all applications. By fostering collaboration between development, operations, and quality assurance, this person will ensure the delivery of robust, scalable, and efficient software solutions. This includes driving automation, enhancing deployment pipelines, and promoting CI/CD practices to support innovation, agility, and operational excellence.

• Strategic Focus: Define and execute the DevOps strategy for application development, ensuring alignment with business goals and organizational standards.
• CI/CD Pipeline Architect: Architect, implement, and optimize end-to-end CI/CD pipelines for multiple application teams, ensuring fast, reliable, and secure delivery of software releases.
• Automation Champion: Lead the automation of manual tasks throughout the application lifecycle, including testing, deployment, infrastructure provisioning, and monitoring.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a bridge between development, operations, and QA teams to remove silos, facilitate communication, and promote shared responsibilities.
• Cloud Migration Expert: Guide the migration and deployment of applications to cloud or hybrid infrastructures, leveraging best practices for scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Monitoring and Logging: Establish and enhance application monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure high availability, performance, and rapid incident response.
• DevSecOps Integration: Integrate security practices and tools into the development pipeline to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
• Metrics-Driven Improvements: Foster a culture of feedback and iteration by implementing metrics-driven improvements and promoting innovative approaches to DevOps challenges.
• Technological Innovation: Drive technological innovation by exploring AI-enhanced tools and industry-leading practices to shape and evolve long-term DevOps strategies.

• CI/CD Pipeline Design: Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to enable high-velocity application delivery.
• Toolchain Expertise: Apply experience of working on CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub, TeamCity, Octopus, Maven, NuGet, ProGet or similar to create or update build packages and deployment pipelines.
• Scripting and Automation: Develop/update the code build using scripting skills in languages like YAML, Python, PowerShell.
• IaC Practices: Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices for repeatable and auditable infrastructure management (code branching, merging, and pull request workflow).
• Containerization and Orchestration: Drive containerization and orchestration strategies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Service Fabrics) across the application portfolio.
• Automated Testing: Develop and enforce automated testing frameworks, including unit, integration, and security testing within pipelines using Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
• Tool Evaluation and Integration: Continuously evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies to optimize the software delivery lifecycle.
• Logging and Monitoring: Ensure applications are monitored and supported with actionable logging, metrics, health checks, and uptime dashboards using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, etc.
• Security and Compliance: Implement and uphold policies for access control, patching, vulnerability management, and regulatory compliance.
• Post-Incident Review: Facilitate post-incident reviews and root cause analysis to drive system and process improvements.
• Documentation: Document DevOps architectures, processes, and standards for reuse and knowledge sharing.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with business leaders, project managers, and technical teams to align DevOps initiatives with organizational priorities.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements for developing effective IT solutions.
• Team Leadership: Work closely with internal teams to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and promote effective use of technology for problem-solving.
• Inspirational Leadership: Lead and inspire the team to consistently deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Culture of Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement in both technical expertise and business acumen.

• Leadership Development: Lead, mentor, and upskill DevOps engineers and developers on modern tools, technologies, and best practices.
• Performance Evaluation: Manage DevOps team members, set objectives, and evaluate performance aligned to business outcomes.
