Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Packaging Lead to spearhead our end-to-end packaging development initiatives. The role combines deep technical expertise in mold development with strategic leadership across packaging projects.

This position will manage a junior team and drive innovation, cost efficiency, and sustainability across the packaging function. Key responsibilities include leading the development and qualification of primary packaging molds, collaborating with mold makers, conducting design of experiments, and approving technical drawings.

Packaging Development

The successful candidate will drive concept-to-commercialization for primary and secondary packaging, working with R&D, marketing, and procurement teams to ensure packaging meets functional, aesthetic, and regulatory requirements.

They will also ensure timely scale-up and launch of new products with robust packaging solutions and champion sustainable packaging initiatives.

Vendor & Overseas Coordination

The ideal candidate will build and maintain strong relationships with overseas packaging suppliers, mold manufacturers, and contract packers. They will conduct vendor audits, negotiate costs, and ensure adherence to timelines and quality.

Additionally, they will manage logistics and import/export coordination for molds and packaging components.

Team Leadership

The selected candidate will lead and mentor a team of packaging developers and junior engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and career development support.

They will oversee resource planning and workload distribution across projects and ensure the team is equipped to meet project deadlines.

Quality & Compliance

The successful candidate will ensure packaging designs comply with safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements. They will establish robust testing protocols and quality checkpoints during development and production.

Furthermore, they will drive continuous improvement projects to reduce defects, improve efficiency, and lower costs.

Requirements

  • Deep technical knowledge of primary packaging mold development (plastic injection, blow molding, glass, etc.)
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent vendor management, negotiation, and overseas coordination skills
  • Experience leading and developing junior team members
  • Understanding of packaging material science, testing protocols, and sustainability trends
  • Proficiency in CAD tools, packaging testing methods, and quality management systems
  • B.Tech / M.Tech in Packaging Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related fields
