Job Title: Senior Data Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to lead the design, build, and evolution of our in-house data platforms. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for constructing datasets requested by various stakeholders, building and maintaining data pipelines, and collaborating with data analysts, data scientists, and business application development teams to deliver data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expertise for data engineering and implementation of high-performing, secure, and cost-efficient data solutions and pipelines.
  • Develop and drive data engineering best practices to further elevate our standing as a reliable data intelligence innovation partner.
  • Actively participate in the development and review of data standards, solution documentation, and implementation within our platform(s) of expertise.
  • Establish strong relationships with business stakeholders, team members, and work closely with platform teams across our chapters.
  • Mentor junior colleagues on how to drive skills/knowledge development through advice, coaching, knowledge transfer, and training opportunities.
  • Timely complete all compliance obligations and trainings, including relevant professional certification if applicable.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree plus at least 7 years of working experience or working in a similar role.
  • Proven experience leading a minimum of one large-scale and 3 mid-scale projects or managed complex data pipelines/environments in the past.
  • Related certifications or relevant accreditations are preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in data engineering tools such as Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, or similar frameworks.
  • Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra) for data modeling and manipulation.
  • Experience with ETL tools like Apache NiFi, Talend, or Informatica for data integration and transformation.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala for data processing and pipeline development.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) and data services like AWS Redshift, Azure Data Lake, or BigQuery.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and practices, including star and snowflake schemas.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to support data analytics and reporting needs.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) for collaborative development.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for deploying data solutions.
  • Understanding of data governance, security best practices, and compliance requirements related to data handling.
