Azure Data Engineer

Description

We are seeking a skilled data engineer with hands-on experience in modern data engineering tools and platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data integration, transformation, and migration.

The successful engineer will lead the migration of large-scale SQL workloads from on-premise environments to Azure, ensuring high data integrity, minimal downtime, and performance optimization.

Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and managing end-to-end data pipelines using Azure Data Factory or Synapse Data Factory, building scalable and secure Azure Data Lakes, and utilizing Azure Databricks, Synapse Spark Pools, Python, and PySpark for advanced data transformation and processing.

The engineer will also develop and fine-tune SQL/T-SQL scripts for data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and reporting in Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instances, and SQL Server.

Additionally, they will collaborate with cloud architects, DBAs, and application teams to assess existing workloads and define the best migration approach.

  • Lead large-scale data migrations from on-premises environments to Azure
  • Design and develop end-to-end data pipelines using Azure Data Factory or Synapse Data Factory
  • Build and manage scalable and secure Azure Data Lakes
  • Utilize Azure Databricks, Synapse Spark Pools, Python, and PySpark for advanced data transformation and processing
  • Develop and fine-tune SQL/T-SQL scripts for data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and reporting
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and migrate workloads to Azure

Required skills and qualifications include 3+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, deep expertise in Azure Data Factory/Synapse Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks/Synapse Spark Pools, Python, and PySpark, and a proven track record of delivering complex data migration projects.

A strong problem-solving skillset, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are also essential.
