Job Description

As a highly skilled mathematician, you will be working on projects to fine-tune large language models using your strong analytical and English comprehension skills. Your solid foundation in mathematics will enable you to break down complex mathematical concepts into simple, clear explanations and work efficiently.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and solving challenging math problems to probe the limitations of large language models
  • Developing high-quality, step-by-step solutions with clear and rigorous reasoning
  • Collaborating with LLM researchers to align problem types with evaluation goals, particularly in areas where models commonly struggle (e.g., abstraction, multi-step reasoning, symbolic manipulation)
  • Contributing to defining new evaluation benchmarks based on Mathematics curricula spanning early undergraduate to PhD-level topics
Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you must possess:

  • A strong background in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Good research and analytical skills
  • The ability to provide constructive feedback and detailed annotations
  • Creative and lateral thinking abilities
  • Excellent structured communication and collaboration skills in a remote setting
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently in a remote setting
  • A desktop/laptop setup with a good internet connection
