Job Title: Data Governance Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as business and technical steward for assigned data domains, ensuring accurate and consistent data management across the organization.
  • Create and maintain metadata, business glossary, and data catalog entries in data governance tools like Collibra, Altion, Informatica or similar.
  • Collaborate with data owners to enforce data definitions, classifications, and data quality rules, maintaining high data accuracy and integrity.
  • Perform data profiling, issue identification, and remediation coordination to resolve data discrepancies.
  • Support the onboarding of new data assets, including cataloging, lineage, and stewardship assignments, to ensure seamless integration.
  • Assist in governance tool configuration, workflow management, and integration automation to streamline data processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support PII tagging, data masking, and access governance, ensuring secure data handling practices.
  • Provide training and support to business users in using governance tools effectively, empowering them to manage data efficiently.
  • Deploy the master data governance framework and utilize supporting data management tools to drive data quality and consistency.
  • Define data quality metrics and monitor data quality performance against established targets, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Conduct regular data governance reviews and provide recommendations for process enhancements, driving continuous improvement.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity throughout the organization.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Operations of Data Governance, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Collibra (catalog, lineage, workflows, API integrations).
  • Experience with data management tools (e.g., data catalogs, MDM systems, data quality platforms).
  • Strong understanding of data quality, metadata management, and data classification practices.
  • Technical skills in SQL, Python/Java, REST APIs for tool integration and automation.
  • Familiarity with Google cloud platform (GCP) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and ability to liaise between business users and technical teams.
