Climate Resilience Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Climate Resilience Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, and policy development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective climate adaptation strategies that align with national and international frameworks.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to inform strategic planning.
  • Apply climate models and analytics to prioritize adaptation responses and identify cost-effective solutions.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of proposed interventions and secure funding from global mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop inclusive adaptation plans that meet the needs of diverse communities.
  • Align adaptation strategies with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national development plans.
  • Design Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems to track progress and ensure accountability.
  • Develop technical content for reports, presentations, and policy briefs tailored to diverse audiences.

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in climate science, environmental studies, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated involvement in developing or updating Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Low-Carbon Transition Long-Term Strategies (LT-LEDS), or National Adaptation Plans (NAPs).
  • Proficiency in conducting CVRAs and translating findings into actionable strategies.
  • Experience working with climate models and interpreting risk projections.
  • Strong grasp of techno-commercial analysis, cost estimation, and financing pathways.
  • Familiarity with global climate finance mechanisms.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Prior experience supporting national governments in climate strategy development.
  • Background in climate and sustainability consulting or advisory roles.
  • Knowledge of ecosystem-based adaptation, nature-based solutions, and coastal resilience approaches.
