Medical Device Service Technician Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Biomedical/Service Technician to oversee medical device turnaround at our facility. The successful candidate will manage the disinfection, electronics checks, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance processes to ensure all devices are ready for redeployment.

This role is ideal for individuals with a strong technical background in electronics and medical equipment. If you have experience servicing medical devices and are looking for a challenging opportunity, please read on.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine disinfection and cleaning of medical devices according to standard operating procedures. They will also conduct thorough inspections to identify functional issues after patient usage, replace components and consumable parts as needed, and maintain quality control records and calibration logs.

In addition to these responsibilities, the successful candidate will diagnose electronic control unit issues and perform minor repairs. They will collaborate with the R&D team for advanced repairs or escalations, update software or firmware if required, and coordinate device pickups and installations at hospitals/home-care centers when necessary.

The Medical Device Service Technician will also be responsible for deploying new devices or rental equipment as required, providing basic training to nursing staff or caregivers upon deployment, documenting service logs, device usage hours, complaints, and interventions, and preparing monthly reports for operations and product teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience servicing medical equipment (e.g., infusion pumps, suction machines, ventilators, patient monitors)
  • Strong technical aptitude in electronics and medical equipment
  • Familiarity with hospital infection control practices is desirable
