**Rocket UniData Engineer Role Overview**

As a Rocket UniData engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and modernizing business applications built on the Rocket MultiValue platform. This involves working with experienced professionals to enhance system performance, debug complex issues, and optimize data flow between legacy systems and modern platforms.

The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with Rocket UniData and UniVerse, along with a deep understanding of PickBasic/UniBasic programming languages and database management principles.

Additionally, they will be well-versed in modern software development practices, including version control and DevOps methodologies. Effective communication skills, combined with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, are also essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design, develop, maintain, and optimize applications built on Rocket UniData and Universe platforms.
  2. Analyze existing codebase and perform system improvements, bug fixes, and enhancements.
  3. Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
  4. Support data integration between MultiValue databases and modern platforms (e.g., via REST APIs, ODBC, or flat file interfaces).
  5. Participate in modernization efforts including migration, documentation, and system re-architecture.
  6. Provide production support, including troubleshooting and performance tuning.
  7. Maintain high-quality standards in code and documentation.

Required Skills & Experience:
  1. Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with Rocket UniData and UniVerse.
  2. Good knowledge of PickBasic/ UniBasic, Procs, Paragraphs, and TCL.
  3. Experience with MultiValue data modeling, indexes, and file structures.
  4. Familiarity with Rocket tools (SB/XA, Web DE, U2 Toolkit) is a plus.
  5. Experience integrating UniData/ UniVerse with external systems.
  6. Understanding of modern development practices (version control, DevOps).
  7. Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
  8. Strong communication and documentation capabilities.
