Finance Engineering Role Overview

In the Finance Engineering division at Goldman Sachs, you'll find a unique blend of computer science, finance, and mathematics being applied to solve complex problems and drive business outcomes. Our team is seeking world-class software engineers to collaborate closely with Corporate Treasury business partners and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that optimize liquidity projections, financial resource allocation, and cash management.

This is a rare opportunity to work in a front-to-back integrated group that explores new ideas for optimizing firm liquidity and executes on strategy. The team is divided into five pillars, each with its specific mandate. Whether you're interested in designing scalable big data architectures, optimizing inventory and liquidity usage algorithms, or working directly with traders on risk management, we have a range of exciting opportunities.

CORPORATE TREASURY LIES AT THE HEART OF GOLDMAN SACHS, ensuring all businesses have the necessary funding to operate while optimizing the firm's liquidity and managing risk. As part of the engineering team, you'll gain insight into the firm's business activities and asset strategy. Your responsibilities will include defining and developing software to analyze data, building metric calculators, and creating automated tools to help business stakeholders make informed decisions.

Your Impact

  • Use engineering to identify and measure risk, and implement quantitative and technical risk management solutions in software.
  • Forge strong relationships with key business partners, understand financial markets, and develop and enhance treasury systems and processes.
  • Apply analytics to drive commercial outcomes and communicate with precision and clarity.
  • Understand business needs, facilitate process workflow, data requirements, and specifications required to support implementation.
  • Develop scalable architecture and implement software following the full SDLC cycle.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to create real-time impact and deliver products with commercial value.

Skills and Experience We're Looking For

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience in software development, including a clear understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design, and core programming concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to learn technologies and apply them effectively.
  • Comfortable multitasking, managing multiple stakeholders, and working as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience speaking to technical and business audiences and working globally.
  • Ability to apply an entrepreneurial approach and passion to problem-solving and product development.
  • 6+ years of relevant, continuous experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong programming experience in at least one compiled language (C, C++, Java).
  • Experience in designing highly scalable, efficient systems.
  • Web technology design experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with financial markets, financial assets, and liquidity management is a plus.
