At Summit Consulting Services, we are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our database operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our database infrastructure.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in database administration, particularly with SQL Server 2017 or higher. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of database concepts, including backup and restore, integrity checks, disaster recovery, and security.

You will be responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting database instances, performing root-cause analysis, and identifying opportunities for improved system performance and process improvements. Additionally, you will assist teams across the organization with query optimization and modify and build automated environment installation and setup processes.

The successful candidate will also serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for specific technical topics and team operations, architecting database high availability and backup and restore processes. You will review and execute data manipulation scripts created by internal and external team members and contribute to other team efforts as needed to support day-to-day database operations.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and troubleshoot database instances

  • Contribute to other team efforts as needed to support day-to-day database operations
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator working with SQL Server 2017 or higher
  • 3+ years of experience configuring and maintaining AlwaysOn Availability Groups
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another related field, or equivalent experience in IT-related fields
  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing concepts and infrastructure management
  • Expert knowledge of common database administration tasks such as backup & restore, integrity checks, disaster recovery, and security
  • Proven experience in performance tuning concepts
  • Prior experience supporting database and application development teams
  • Thorough knowledge reading and writing complex SQL scripts
  • General knowledge reading and writing PowerShell or other scripting technologies
  • The ability to solve complex problems independently using analysis and research
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide technical input both internally and externally
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Experience working in a PCI/SOX, or other compliance regulated environment
  • General knowledge of at least one other database technology
  • Ability to work on-call rotation
Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with:

  • Master's degree in technology, engineering or related field
  • General knowledge of PostgreSQL
  • AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL experience
  • IAC tools, (Terraform, AWS Cloudformation)
Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
