Senior Principal Statistical Programmer Job Description

The role of Senior Principal Statistical Programmer is to lead and manage statistical programming activities for clinical trials. This includes developing, implementing, and maintaining statistical programs, as well as coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and quality delivery of statistical outputs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement statistical programs in R, Python, and SAS.
  • Collaborate with study teams to identify statistical programming requirements and develop project-level standardization.
  • Lead and coordinate team of internal or external programmers on a given study/project.
  • Ensure knowledge sharing and training among team members.
  • Provide and implement statistical programming solutions; ensure knowledge sharing and problem-solving aspects.
  • Responsible for quality control and audit readiness of all assigned statistical programming deliverables.
  • Maintain up-to-date advanced knowledge of programming software (e.g. SAS) as well as industry requirements (e.g. CDISC SDTM/ADaM).

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong programming skills in R, Python, and SAS.
  • Advanced experience in contributing to statistical analysis plans and/or constructing technical programming specifications.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry standards including CDISC data structures.
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements relevant to Statistical Programming (e.g. GCP, study procedures).
  • Proven communications and negotiation skills, ability to work well with others globally and influence.
  • Experience as Trial/Lead/Project Programmer for several studies or project-level activities.
  • Ideally 7+ years of work experience in a programming role preferably supporting clinical trials/ or in pharmaceutical industry.
