GIS Developer Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining custom GIS applications and web-based mapping solutions.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Crafting Custom GIS Solutions: Develop innovative GIS applications that meet user requirements and optimize geospatial workflows.
  • User Requirements Analysis: Analyze user needs to create effective geospatial tools and solutions.
  • Integration with Enterprise Systems: Seamlessly integrate GIS applications with various enterprise systems and APIs.
  • Data Automation and Processing: Design and implement data automation scripts and tools using Python/ArcPy.
  • Spatial Data Modeling and Analysis: Perform advanced spatial data modeling, geoprocessing, and analysis.
  • Database Management: Optimize and maintain spatial databases (e.g., PostGIS, SQL Server with spatial extensions).
  • Map Creation and Visualization: Create interactive maps, dashboards, and visualizations using ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or Mapbox.
  • Performance Tuning and Testing: Conduct performance testing and tuning of GIS solutions.
  • Support and Troubleshooting: Provide expert support for GIS-related issues and enhancements.
  • Technology Updates: Stay current with emerging GIS technologies and best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in GIS development.
  • Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS Suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online).
  • Must have experience migrating Geocortex Essentials and custom HTML 5 web applications, related workflows, and controls into ESRI's JavaScript API version 4.
  • Must have experience working in VertiGIS Studio Suite of tools and ESRI Experience Builder.
    • Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript (Leaflet/ArcGIS API for JS), or .NET for GIS applications.
    • Experience with spatial databases: PostGIS, SQL Server, Oracle Spatial.
    • Hands-on experience with FME, GDAL, or other ETL/data transformation tools.
    • Knowledge of web development frameworks and APIs (REST/SOAP).
    • Experience integrating GIS with other enterprise systems (ERP, CRM).
    • Familiarity with open-source GIS platforms (QGIS, GeoServer, MapServer) is a plus.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in GIS (e.g., Esri Technical Certification).
  • Experience working with cloud GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise on AWS/Azure).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
