As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a crucial part in our organization's success by ensuring the accuracy and quality of mortgage underwriting services.
This position is responsible for reviewing loan applications, analyzing risk, and verifying documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify portfolio risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Key Responsibilities- Review and verify loan applications, support documentation, and credit reports to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Analyze loan risk and recommend additional information as necessary to support underwriting decisions
- Evaluate loan conditions and communicate requirements or decisions to stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, company policies, and procedures
- Identify and document loan portfolio risks resulting from client business practices
- Demonstrated understanding of mortgage guidelines and policies, including VA, FHA, FNMA, FHLMC & USDA
- Analysis and calculation of qualifying income from various tax documents
- Experience with AUS and manual underwriting methods, including DU and LP
- Working knowledge of industry-recognized LOS systems, such as Encompass, BytePro, Calyx, Empower, or Lending QB
- 5+ years of recent US Mortgage underwriting front-line experience
