Backend Technical Lead Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Technical Lead to lead our team in building high-quality software and enable our customers to grow their revenues. The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of backend experience, with recent hands-on development in Java and Spring Boot.

  • Owning technical execution for backend and frontend modules, leading delivery across the team, and ensuring production readiness with robust monitoring and alerting practices on AWS.
  • Enhancing and evolving existing backend systems with scalable architecture patterns and thoughtful refactoring-not rewrites for the sake of it.
  • Architecting high-performance services using Java and Spring Boot, built for scale and uptime.
  • Working closely with DevOps to ensure production readiness with robust monitoring and alerting practices on AWS.
  • Partnering with technical peers, product managers, and occasionally with customer-facing teams to ensure alignment of business and tech priorities.

The Ideal Candidate:

A pragmatic decision-maker who focuses on value and execution over over-engineering, with strong communication skills to influence technical decisions and align with business objectives. Experience leading and mentoring engineers, conducting design reviews, and managing technical debt effectively. Comfortable in customer-facing discussions, when needed, to represent technical perspectives.

Bonus Skills:

We're looking for someone who is also proficient in agile methodologies, has experience working in remote/hybrid setups, and can collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth.
