AVP Medical Coding Position

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our coding unit.

  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing large teams of 250 to 600 coders, with strong leadership capabilities and client handling experience.
  • The candidate should be certified from AAPC or AHIMA, with a proven track record of overseeing daily operations, including workload and staffing, training, and monitoring quality of work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Oversees daily operations of the coding unit, including workload and staffing, hiring, disciplining, performance appraisals, training, and monitoring quality of work.
  • Goal Setting and Planning: Develops long-range and short-term goals, objectives, plans, and programs and ensures their implementation.
  • Innovation and Problem-Solving: Evaluates the impact of innovations and changes in programs, policies, and procedures for the coding unit and identifies, assesses, and resolves problems.
  • Data Accessibility: Designs and implements systems and methods to improve data accessibility, prepares administrative reports, and monitors the coding compliance program.
  • Coding Compliance: Oversees and monitors the coding compliance program, develops and coordinates educational and training programs regarding elements of the coding compliance program.
  • Regulatory Updates: Ensures the appropriate dissemination and communication of regulatory, policy, and guideline changes.
  • Audit and Monitoring: Conducts and oversees coding audit efforts, coordinates monitoring of coding accuracy and documentation adequacy, and reports non-compliance issues detected through auditing and monitoring.
  • Trend Analysis: Conducts trend analyses to identify patterns and variations in coding practices and reviews claim denials and rejections pertaining to coding and medical necessity issues.

Requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: Any Graduate (Preferably from Life Science background)
  • Experience: 17+ years of experience in Multispecialty Coding and substantial team management experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong managerial, leadership, analytical, interpersonal skills, and Outstanding organizational skills
  • Hands-on Experience in generating reports using MS Office - Excel, Word, and MS PowerPoint
