About the Project
The Maharashtra Resilience Development Program aims to mitigate landslide risks and improve emergency management capacities. We will contribute to disaster risk understanding, strengthen relationships between departments and stakeholders, and support resilience at the community and state level.
Responsibilities
- Monitor weather conditions using meteorological instruments and satellite data.
- Analyze meteorological data, including temperature, humidity, wind speed/direction, precipitation, and atmospheric pressure.
- Develop and improve early warning systems for impending weather hazards.
- Conduct climate analysis and provide insights into long-term climate trends.
- Assist in understanding the impacts of climate change on Maharashtra's weather patterns.
- Work with stakeholders to integrate meteorological information into resilience strategies.
- Provide technical expertise in designing infrastructure and policies that are resilient to weather extremes.
- Train local officials, emergency responders, and community members on interpreting meteorological data and forecasts.
- Develop new tools and methodologies to enhance weather forecasting accuracy and resilience strategies.
- Maintain records of meteorological observations, forecasts, and disaster events.
- Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders and funding agencies.
Requirements
- Master's degree in meteorology or a related field.
- Experience working in disaster management or a relevant field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in meteorology, weather forecasting, or climate research.
- Experience working on projects funded by multilateral funding agencies.
- Knowledge of disaster risk management, early warning systems, and resilience-building initiatives is preferred.
