Job Title: Regional Legal Manager

Job Summary:

Brenntag, a leading global chemical distributor, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regional Legal Manager to join our team in Mumbai. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a crucial role in implementing Brenntag's special projects, leading and managing contract management tools, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, and providing training on Legal Group policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading all legal matters, compliance, and secretarial support for Brenntag India and APAC projects assigned;
  • Providing practical and commercial legal advice to management and internal stakeholders regarding legal issues and risks;
  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating various contracts and legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and company policies;
  • Overseeing and managing company secretarial matters, including supervising country corporate secretaries, implementing filing deadlines, and maintaining company records and registers;
  • Providing legal advice on employment matters and serving as a trusted partner to the human resources department;
  • Implementing Brenntag APAC legal and compliance policies and guidelines, conducting necessary trainings, and attending to registration and maintenance of intellectual property;
  • Managing legal claims and litigation, liaising with external counsel, and providing support to the Brenntag APAC Head of Legal on compliance-related matters.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Laws Degree (minimum) from a reputable University in India, preferably with overseas education;
  • Valid Attorney/Legal Practitioner License in India and Qualified Company Secretary from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India;
  • Excellent command of the English language (written and spoken);
  • At least 8 years of post-qualification experience in private practice (dispute resolution and commercial law) and in-house experience (MNC) with demonstrated corporate secretarial experience;
  • Working knowledge of competition and anti-trust laws in India;
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects under strict deadlines, multitask, and handle confidential information;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint);
  • Solid technical competencies in general corporate and commercial law, competition law, contract law, intellectual property law, and legal compliance, with excellent drafting skills;
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and willingness to learn, diligence, and meticulousness;
  • Self-starter with strong project management, analytical, and organizational skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively work with various departments and business units within Brenntag;
  • Knowledge of general corporate formalities and corporate secretary requirements across Asia-Pacific region;
  • Commitment to high ethical standards with superb business acumen;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and diplomacy.
