About the RoleThe ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in E&M and Denial coding and a strong understanding of medical coding principles and guidelines. As a Medical Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for applying diagnostic & procedural codes to individual patient health data for claims processing and ensuring the claims are paid by payers.
Key Responsibilities- Apply ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS codes, and modifiers to patient medical records.
- Utilize CCI edits, LCD policies, CPT, and Clinical guidelines while assigning codes.
- Review denials for coding lapses and suggest corrective and preventive actions.
- Actively review denials and research to create claims scrubber edits which will prevent specific coding denials permanently.
- A graduate degree in Life Science or related field with basic training in medical transcription or medical coding.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in E&M and Denial coding.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
