As an Industrial Spices Quality Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring product quality assurance, food safety, and meeting all regulatory requirements for our industrial spices operations.

Responsibilities
  • You will manage all product technical specifications, covering physical, chemical, microbiological, and sensory parameters.
  • Initiate, investigate, and implement new formulations, process improvements, and cost savings projects.
  • Provide scientific attention to detail on formulation/processing issues related to assigned projects.
  • Complete technical assessments for evaluation of new products/process opportunities.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations concerning the application of new ingredient/processing technologies.
  • Implement new products in the plant, working closely with plant management.
  • Set up and operate physical, chemical, and microbiological analysis laboratories.
  • Develop methodologies for proximate compositions, contaminant analysis using Chromatography (HPLC), pesticide residue laboratory using GC/MS-MS and LC-MS-MS techniques, and microbiological analysis using FDA-BAM, ISO, and other customer-specific methods.
  • Establish laboratories and train local laboratory personnel to enhance microbiological analysis capabilities, including PCR techniques for pathogen analysis.
  • Assist customers with respect to their product or quality improvement initiatives.
  • Review and approve recipes, processes, and labels to ensure compliance with all regulatory labeling requirements.
  • Manage customer complaints, perform root cause analysis, develop fish bone diagrams, and implement corrective actions to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain awareness of technologies used by other food manufacturers through reviewing technical literature and attending seminars.
  • Mentor technical staff to enhance technical knowledge through exposure to advanced measurement techniques.
  • Develop a 100% quality audit-ready facility through collaboration with the operations team and maintain documentation and audit protocols.
  • Provide technical support to business needs and future expansions as a key member of the operations team.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree or above in Food Science, Chemistry, or Microbiology.
  • Advanced knowledge of food regulations within the EU, US, and Asia region, specifically on industrial spices.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in quality assurance, measurement of physical, chemical, and microbiological techniques.
  • At least 5 years of R&D/QA Management experience in industrial spices business and/or savory spice blends.
  • Strong understanding of chemistry and microbiological aspects of spices and industrial spices ingredients.
  • Ability to manage a team of over 10 people in a laboratory environment, handling both chemistry and microbiological laboratories.
  • Understanding of spices sterilization technologies and application of ETO, Steam, and Irradiation techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and analytical problem-solving skills with category expertise.
  • Knowledge in statistical analysis as used in designing experiments and measuring process capabilities.
  • Presentation and articulation skills with customers in Europe, US, and Asia/Pacific regions and senior management within ofi.
