Job Overview

The TransPerfect TechOps team has been a vital part of the company's success since its formation 10 years ago – delivering technology and services that have drastically simplified the lives of our clients and colleagues – from workflow improvements for colleagues, to core services that form the basis of the company's GlobalLink platform, to creating scalable client interfaces that allow novice users to navigate complex ecosystems.

We are looking for a skilled Database Administrator who will work directly with senior developers to design, test, plan, protect and implement our department's databases.

About the Role

This role requires a highly motivated individual with advanced understanding of relational database architecture/infrastructure, specifically MSSQL. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of systems and software development lifecycles; application integration techniques; and relational database design.

  • Manage locking, process blocking and performance tuning of databases
  • Create and maintain high availability and disaster-recovery-friendly architecture
  • Manage, optimize, test and verify backup and restoration processes
  • Create and maintain monitoring and metrics tooling and dashboards
  • Preventative infrastructure management considering potential future issues
  • Handle support tickets when necessary
  • Develops and deploys new database objects and changes to existing database objects
  • Create complex functions, scripts, stored procedures and triggers

This role involves working closely with the senior development team to deliver database solutions that meet the needs of our business. As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing our databases, ensuring they are secure, efficient and performing optimally.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • Advanced understanding of relational database architecture/infrastructure, specifically MSSQL
  • Strong knowledge of systems and software development lifecycles; application integration techniques; and relational database design
  • Experience with Always on High Availability Groups is a plus

Able to analyze, troubleshoot and break down complex problems, you will choose appropriate tasks to work on relative to our current workload. You will understand and implement best-practices balanced with our team standards. Clearly communicate ideas, thoughts and suggestions to manager and peers.

Languages and Technologies

You should have experience with cloud database storage technologies and knowledge of T-SQL, Stored Procedures, and day-to-day DB functions.
