Senior Microsoft Engineer Job Description

A seasoned IT professional with a strong background in Active Directory management and implementation is sought after to lead large-scale migrations and restructuring projects. The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical skills, leadership abilities, and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, plan, and execute complex Active Directory transformations, ensuring minimal downtime and seamless integration with related systems.
  • Assess existing AD environments to identify gaps and opportunities for optimization, working closely with security teams and project managers to deliver enterprise solutions.
  • Implement secure, scalable, and compliant AD architectures following Microsoft best practices, including forest/domain consolidations, upgrades, and reorganizations.
  • Lead end-to-end migration activities, including user, group, computer, and policy transfers, domain controller deployment, and trust configuration.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure architects to design and implement efficient AD site topologies, FSMO roles, DNS, replication, and trusts.
  • Document designs, processes, and post-migration configurations for operational handover.
Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in Microsoft infrastructure engineering, including Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and AD DS concepts.
  • Proven track record in large-scale Active Directory migrations or restructures, demonstrating expertise in PowerShell scripting for automation of AD tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure Active Directory and hybrid identity solutions, as well as security best practices for identity and access management.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field, with relevant certifications a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate or higher, demonstrating expertise in identity governance and security.
  • Experience with cloud-based directory services and identity synchronization, as well as mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures involving AD consolidation.
