GIS Specialist Role Overview

This position involves delivering technical assistance, resolving problems, and enhancing the usability of GIS mapping applications. The goal is to ensure data accuracy, configure GIS tools, and provide support for users in effectively applying geospatial solutions to business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support through various channels for GIS mapping applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software, data, and functionality issues.
  • Conduct training sessions, create user guides, FAQs, and documentation.
  • Assist with geospatial data acquisition, processing, and integration.
  • Configure and customize GIS applications, scripts, and workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address user needs and deliver solutions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical support for GIS applications or related software.
  • Strong understanding of GIS principles, spatial analysis, and mapping concepts.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar).
  • Familiarity with geospatial data formats (shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML) and coordinate systems.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
