About the Job

We are seeking a seasoned Software Development Manager to lead our Metrics and Data Platform team at Amazon Music.

Job Description

In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing a cross-functional team of software and data engineers to deliver mission-critical data platform services, pipeline orchestration frameworks, and a data warehouse. Your expertise in big data technologies and system design will help us innovate at the intersection of software and data engineering.

As a site leader in Bengaluru, you will work with international teams across San Francisco, New York, and Mexico City to drive the execution of cross-functional programs from design to launch, delivering results incrementally.

You will also collaborate with leaders and stakeholders to define and execute a multi-year vision and strategy, aligning business needs with technical capabilities.

About the Team

The Metrics Data Foundations team owns the modeling, ingestion, processing, serving, and management of Amazon Music behavioral data. They serve 100+ teams to process events, generate datasets, and share data by operating highly available services, compute and data pipeline orchestration, and a data warehouse.

Requirements
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in building data solutions
  • Experience with leading effective engineering teams
  • Expertise with big data technologies
Estimated Salary

$150,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
