Job Title: DERMS Expert

We are seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as a DERMS expert. In this role, you will provide technical and consulting services with expertise in Utility Operational Technologies (OT) with a focus on Distributed Energy Management Systems (DERMS), Demand Response Management Systems (DRMS), Electric Distribution Outage Management Systems (OMS), Advance Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver functional and technical expertise in various aspects of DERMS/DRMS implementations including solution architecture, initial system design, requirements and gap analysis and system implementation support.
  • Contribute to DERMS system business requirements definition, request for proposal development and product vendor evaluation.
  • Provide consulting & execution of engagements to assist electric utilities with management of DERMS and ADMS system planning, long term roadmap, implementation, testing and operation.
  • Assess potential new OT system's vendor partners, and develop partnerships with key vendors.
  • Evaluate proposals, select vendors, develop statements of work and negotiate contracts.
  • Support solution design, documentation, planning, implementation, vendor management, testing and acceptance.

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrate good understanding of DEMRS system functionalities (Registration & Grouping, Load Forecasting, Demand Management, Optimization, DER Scheduling & Dispatch, DER Operating Envelop, Network Congestion Management).
  • Engage with client utilities to understand their specific applications, approaches and methodologies in Electric Distribution Operational systems using relevant utility experience.
  • Implement DERMS solutions on-Prem or on Cloud (Azure/AWS).
  • Maintain hands-on experience on any OEM ADMS & OMS of ABB / Oracle NMS / GE / Schneider / Siemens system.
  • Know ADMS functionalities of Fault Management through FLISR/FDIR, Feeder Reconfiguration, Load-shed, Voltage VAR control, Distribution Load flow.
  • Maintain experience of any programming language (Python, Java, .Net) and any database (SQL, MySQL).
  • Show proven knowledge of hardware, software and architecture include market trends and consulting level experience.
  • Understand GIS (Smallworld, ESRI) & Smart AMI metering.
  • Resource from Electric Utilities and/or Consulting Entities servicing this area will be preferred.
  • Achieve IT/OT and security standards (e.g., NERC CIP).
  • Expertise in developing requirements, testing, acceptance and transition.
  • Knowledge of and working familiarity with current standards, and regulations governing power systems.

Industry Knowledge Capability:

  • Demonstrate good understanding of electric utility distribution planning, engineering and operations.
  • Understand electricity distributed generation, energy storage, and the controls associate with each.
  • Utilize specialized utility system design and planning knowledge to produce moderately complex work products and solutions across engagements or multiple phases of a more complex engagement.
  • Assess effectiveness of client's use of tools, applications, processes to adapt to new OT applications for solution areas such as DERMS/DRMS/ADMS/OMS/SCADA.
  • Apply appropriate methods or recognized equivalent to identified client needs.
  • Anticipate and resolve technical problems with occasional technical assistance from others.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering or similar technical domain.
  • At least 10+ years of experience in utilities business and technical consulting, or relevant engagement implementation services as part of an OT/DERMS or SCADA vendor team.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Electricity OT/DERMS systems.
  • Able to travel up to 50%.
