We are looking for a highly motivated, best-in-class cabling infrastructure engineer to join our growing team within its infrastructure operations.

Job Summary

This role will involve working with minimum supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and to develop innovative ways to automate and scale our network as we expand.

The successful candidate will have end-to-end ownership of structured cabling for the data hall, responsible for adhering to security and safety best practices, installation and testing of copper and fiber optic cabling, creating and attaching labels and barcodes, understanding test equipment, basic build and troubleshooting of network devices, managing inventory, and adhering to defined escalation processes and standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to security and safety best practices in the data center and ensure all safety and security-related procedures are adhered to by Amazon staff and vendors alike.
  • Installation and testing of copper and fiber optic cabling.
  • Creating/attaching labels and barcodes.
  • Understanding of test equipment (power meter/light source, OTDR, VFL, network analyzer, copper/fiber cabling test equipment).
  • BASIC build and troubleshooting of network devices.
  • Managing inventory of related materials by checking and coordinating all materials to be delivered to site daily.
  • Adhering to defined escalation processes and standard operating procedures.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Diploma/Graduation in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.

4-8 years' experience with network cabling (fiber optic & copper).

3-5 years of project management experience or operations planning experience.

2-4 years' experience with physical network infrastructure deployment and troubleshooting.

English language communication ability.

Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and network cabling.

Ability to work well with others in a team environment, displaying excellent time management skills and the ability to follow direction.

Able to work at heights or use ladders for continued periods.

Have strong attention to detail, maintain high quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

Substantial background in large-scale datacenter network implementations and support.

Knowledge of copper and fiber optic testing methodologies.

Ability to read basic layout drawings and floor plans.

Industry-standard certifications (CompTIA, City & Guilds Cabling cert or equivalent).

Previous experience working in a data center environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management).
