Job Title: Tax Advisory Associate

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our Indirect Tax Advisory team in Chennai, India. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for providing tax advisory services to clients and contributing to the development of commercial acumen.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of legal provisions related to indirect taxation.
  • Draft advises, opinions, and compliance reports for clients.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations for client meetings, trainings, seminars, and other events.
  • Analyze client data to estimate tax impact on business transactions.
  • Develop scenario-building skills to identify the most tax-efficient business model.
  • Contribute to articles, monographs, and other knowledge-sharing initiatives.


Client Service Delivery/Execution:
  • Proactively identify and discuss technical issues with clients while being mindful of firm risk issues.
  • Handle tax matters related to preparation of submissions, replies to notices, appeals, and representation during appeals along with seniors.
  • Execute work on a multiple-client base, assuming near-independent responsibility for smaller clients.
  • Develop rapport with middle layers of client management.


Commercial Acumen Development:
  • Stay abreast of firm-wide and competitor activities and general business trends.
  • Apply knowledge in delivering solutions to clients, adding value to them and managers alike.


Networking & Identification of Opportunities:
  • Identify new opportunities for existing clients and communicate them to managers.
  • Network internally within the peer group and other levels in the firm to gain understanding of issues impacting clients.
  • Compile legal databases and contribute to study sessions, continuously updating with latest legal developments such as circulars, notifications, and decisions.


Strong Knowledge Base Development:
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in tax and other laws.
  • Contribute to knowledge management activities of the firm.


Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Excellent Communication and Drafting Skills.
  • Strong Analytical and researching skills.
  • Proactive, reliable, and attention to detail.


Desired Experience and Education:
  • CA or Law Graduate from a known Law School with a strong academic track record.
  • 0-2 years of post-qualification experience in Indirect tax in the field of litigation or advisory. Prior experience in Indirect Tax would be preferred (i.e., GST and/or customs).
