Investment Banking Role Overview

Nomura's investment banking business delivers comprehensive advisory and capital-raising solutions to corporations, financial institutions, governments, and public-sector organizations globally.

  • Specialists collaborate domestically, regionally, and cross-border in M&A, DCM, ECM, and Client Financing and Solutions businesses.
  • Global sector teams comprise FIG, Technology, Media & Services (TMS), Energy, Infrastructure & Industrials (GII), Consumer Retail, Healthcare, and Financial Sponsors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze financial and market data for companies and work on tasks such as creating company profiles, industry-specific slides, company valuations, debt and equity offerings execution, and M&A.
  • Assignments will involve detailed financial and/or market analyses, company and industry research, and financial statement analyses.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in Japan and other Nomura offices worldwide.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural teams and perform efficiently under time constraints.
  • Proficiency in Japanese language (Cleared Level N5 of JLPT exams at minimum).
  • Strong desire to excel, high degree of motivation, and willingness to take leadership and responsibility for projects.
  • Business or Finance major; accounting coursework is a significant advantage.
  • Strong quantitative skills and ability to produce consistently high-quality, accurate work.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation skills.
