About the Role


We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud Solutions Engineering team at American Express. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of cloud-native applications and hybrid cloud migration strategies.


Key Responsibilities



  • Design and implement cloud-native applications and hybrid cloud migration strategies to meet business requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and develop solutions that meet those needs
  • Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure, including provisioning and deployment of cloud resources
  • Work with development teams to ensure successful onboarding of applications to cloud platforms
  • Contribute to the development of best-in-class developer experience on cloud platforms
  • Participate in the design and implementation of migration tools and technologies
  • Lead and mentor teams of engineers through ongoing development efforts
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and industry trends

Requirements



  • 10+ years of software development experience in a professional environment
  • Bachelors Degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required; advanced degree preferred
  • Hands-on expertise with application design, software development, and automated testing
  • Strong development experience in any two programming languages Java, Javascript, Python, Go; preferred Go lang
  • Experience with modern datastores like Redis, Couchbase, Cassandra & Postgresql
  • Hands-on experience in cloud native application patterns and tools, micro services architectures, application migrations to any cloud platform
  • Experience in using public cloud platform services, like AWS / Azure / GCP
  • Excellent understanding of Infrastructure, Virtualization, Containers, Network, Storage, monitoring tools, Logging analytic tools (Splunk, etc.)
  • Preferred hands-on experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions
  • Preferred hands-on experience with Cloud technology such as OpenShift/ Kubernetes, Docker, Envoy and control plane
  • Good understanding of one-way/two-way ssl communications
  • Deep understanding of Agile principles and processes
  • Proven experience leading teams of engineers
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to learn through experience
  • Excellent collaboration in a team environment and comfortable in group based working sessions
  • Working experience as part of an Agile team
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
