Job Description

The job involves collaborating with a team of skilled software engineers in designing and implementing both on-premise and cloud solutions. As an expert and trusted advisor, you'll provide guidance for transforming legacy database implementations to the cloud and migrating away from Oracle to PostgreSQL.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performance Tuning: Troubleshoot performance problems, fine-tune database and index analysis, and optimize queries in Oracle.
  • Support Cloud Databases hosted in AWS and Azure to support SAAS solutions in the cloud as well as on-premise infrastructure for development.
  • Participate in Scrum meetings with other team members including sprint planning and estimating; backlog refinement; daily Scrum meetings; sprint retrospectives, and sprint reviews.
  • Support developers in performance tuning PL/SQL, functions, packages, and procedures.
  • Take part in moving the product further towards a Cloud Native solution.

Ideal Experience

  • Understanding of Cloud Database and managed services, preferably in AWS and Azure.
  • Experience working with Postgres and NoSQL databases such as Mongo, DynamoDB, Cosmos.
  • Understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Required skills include good working experience on performance tuning, troubleshooting, and debugging in Oracle.
  • Understanding of clean code, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
  • Good communication skills, working with a broad range of people, including Product Owners, Testers.
  • Extensive experience in managing and tuning Oracle databases.
  • A positive approach to problem-solving with a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Ability to switch roles as an individual contributor as well as a team player with cross-culture and distributed teams.
  • Experience of software development methodologies and processes like Agile, Scrum, Kanban is desirable.
  • Experience in writing unit test cases will be an added advantage.
  • Experience of working with databases in containers such as Docker K8's is desirable too.
