We are seeking a highly skilled Counselling Professional to join our team at Vision-Aid India. This exciting opportunity will allow you to make a positive difference in the lives of visually impaired individuals.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will possess prior experience supporting individuals with disabilities and demonstrate exceptional networking capabilities. As a Counselling Professional, you will be responsible for providing psychological counselling to students, guiding them in career opportunities, learning new skills, and life skills. You will also be required to create case diaries, measure the impact of counselling on students' mental and other well-being, and build a strong and scalable counselling function within Vision-Aid.

Responsibilities
  • Counsel Vision-Aid students across all demographics, providing emotional support and guidance.
  • Lead and guide students in areas such as career opportunities, learning new skills, and life skills.
  • Guide and motivate students who require assistance, helping to maintain their spirits.
  • Provide psychological counselling to students experiencing depression or other psychological ailments, aiming to motivate and empower them.
  • Counsel at least 70-80 students per month, monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Create detailed case diaries for each student counselled, ensuring ongoing updates.
  • Develop mechanisms to measure the impact of counselling on students' mental and overall well-being.
  • Promote a strong, scalable counselling function within Vision-Aid, implementing efficient processes and models.
  • Identify and address student drop-out issues from training programs, developing strategies to improve retention rates.
  • Submit regular reports to Vision-Aid management on the counselling function's progress, including the number of students counselled, results achieved, and case diaries.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, or B.Ed in Special Education.
  • Minimum of 3 years as a counsellor, with experience working with people with disabilities, preferably the visually impaired.
Skills and Requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with beneficiaries.
  • Good listening skills, empathy, and the capacity to understand beneficiaries' problems from their perspective.
  • Excellent English communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills; proficiency in Tamil, Telugu, and/or Hindi is a preference.
  • Outstanding networking skills, enabling effective collaboration and partnerships.

Our mission is to enable, educate, and empower persons with vision-related disabilities, allowing them to live independently and with dignity.

We offer over 15 training programs annually, impacting approximately 1,000 visually impaired participants. Central to our success is personalized support through targeted counselling, which allows us to understand students' unique needs and aid in their personal and professional development.

Estimated Salary Range:

Rupees 400,000 to 600,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
