Seeking a qualified physician to fill the role of Senior Resident/Attending Consultant in Internal Medicine.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have expertise in evaluating and managing patients with internal medicine conditions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Clinical Responsibilities

Evaluating and managing patients with infectious diseases, diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders, rheumatologic and autoimmune diseases, gastrointestinal and respiratory illnesses.

Handling medical emergencies and acute care in emergency, ICU, and wards.

Managing inpatients, including admission, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning.

Providing consultation services to other departments.

Participating in health screening programs and preventive care initiatives.

  • Outpatient & Inpatient Care

Attending to OPD patients during scheduled clinics.

Performing daily rounds in general wards and high-dependency units (HDU/ICU).

Coordinating multidisciplinary care where required.

Documenting all clinical interactions, prescriptions, and progress notes accurately.

  • Procedures

Performing and assisting in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as lumbar puncture, pleural/ascitic tap, central line insertion, ECG interpretation, ABG analysis, and basic ultrasonography.

  • Academic & Research (For Teaching Hospitals)

Attending and contributing to academic sessions, seminars, journal clubs, CMEs.

Participating in teaching medical students, interns, and junior residents.

Engaging in clinical audits, morbidity/mortality meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.

Involved in ongoing or new clinical research projects, if interested.

  • Compliance & Documentation

Ensuring adherence to institutional clinical guidelines, infection control, and patient safety protocols.

Maintaining all required documentation including patient case sheets, discharge summaries, and medico-legal reports.

Following ethical medical practices and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications & Experience:

The ideal candidate should hold an MD/DNB in Internal Medicine from a recognized university and be registered with the Medical Council of India (MCI)/NMC or relevant State Medical Council.

Three years of post-PG clinical experience is required for the Senior Resident position.

A minimum of 35+ years of post-PG experience is required for the Attending Consultant position.

Fellowship in critical care, diabetes, infectious disease, or any relevant subspecialty is an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

The ideal candidate should possess excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills.

Strong communication and empathy in patient interactions are essential.

The ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team is crucial.

Time management, adaptability, and initiative are also important skills.
