The Legal and Compliance Leader is responsible for overseeing legal and compliance matters across multiple entities. The role partners with internal teams, as well as external organizations to advise on regulatory, governance, and corporate transactions.

Key responsibilities include managing court cases, litigations, and legal suits to ensure tactful settlement with minimum financial impact. This also involves resolution of audit related disputes amicably to ensure smooth compliance.

The Legal and Compliance Leader will organize and record Annual General Shareholder meetings, Audit Committee, and Board meetings to keep all stakeholders informed about the organization's business and ensure compliance with statutory norms.

Job Duties / Responsibilities may include:

  • Work closely with management to evaluate & mitigate legal impact of major decisions where applicable law, regulations, or facts of the case are unclear, controversial, or conflicting
  • Ensure that the organization complies with governing documents, company law, and any other relevant legislations or regulations to safeguard good name and values of the organization
  • Support the Management by ensuring smooth functioning of the Board and Board Committees including Audit Committees
  • Appoint law partner associates, partner with them in preparation of cases for litigation, reviewing complex documents relating to transactions, explaining cases to partner attorneys and brainstorm effective solutions within the legal framework
  • Prepare legal documents and papers, prepare cases and contracts, proofread the document before submission to a law partner for review, negotiate with outside parties, render legal opinions and represent the organization in all legal matters

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • LL.B from a reputed law school/university
  • 15+ years of experience in Corporate Legal, Company Secretariat, Manufacturing, Consumer Goods, and Regulatory Affairs
  • Proven track record of managing compliance for listed companies, board-level advisory, litigation management, and corporate governance
  • Experience across audit, M&A, tribunal, settlements, policy, government/regulatory engagement valued
  • Strong corporate legal and compliance knowledge and regulatory affairs expertise
  • Experience in governance and board-level advisory
  • Proven track record in litigation and dispute resolution
