Senior Security Analyst

Overview of the Role

The Senior Security Analyst is responsible for overseeing and implementing comprehensive security strategies to safeguard an organization's information systems and data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and enforce robust security protocols to identify and mitigate potential risks and vulnerabilities within the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review project security requirements, maintain compliance with industry standards, and implement automation technologies to streamline security operations.
  • Design systems to detect malicious activities, identify security incidents, and respond effectively to contain threats and risks.
  • Ensure the integrity of security controls, toolsets, and other security-relevant services by developing and analyzing security reports, building presentations as required, and facilitating status updates to stakeholders.
  • Monitor and audit systems for security violations, vulnerabilities, and abnormalities, making updates to security policies, standards, procedures, practices, and operating procedures as necessary.
  • Assist with incident handling and other incident response activities as needed, ensuring problems are resolved in an effective and timely manner.
  • Implement tools, processes, and procedures to identify unusual or suspicious behavior that may indicate a breach, creating actionable alerts to prompt immediate response from concerned teams.
Requirements
  • A working level understanding of controls (e.g., access control, auditing, authentication, encryption, and system integrity).
  • Versed in operating systems such as Linux (various distributions) and Microsoft Windows, with experience using Microsoft Active Directory, encryption, and algorithms, authorization, and authentication mechanisms/software.
  • General knowledge of network design and common network protocols, and infrastructure systems.
  • Ability to create scripts to automate processes in PowerShell, Python, or Bash is a plus.
  • Ability to recognize and analyze malware, analyze large data sets, and identify patterns and anomalies.
  • Experience with PCI-DSS, ISO-27001, and/or SOC II compliance frameworks is a plus, as is experience implementing and measuring security controls aligned with NIST and the Center for Internet Security (CIS), along with Project Management skills.
  • Additional certifications issued by public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle, etc.) are also desirable.
Preferred Qualifications

Industry recognized certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+, certifications issued by the SANS Institute, etc. Additional certifications from cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle, etc.
