Accountant Job Description

This position is embedded within a respected accounting firm under the umbrella of a leading company.

  • We are seeking an experienced accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions.

The ideal candidate combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.

An accountant's responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining a general ledger, and preparing month-end close procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers
  • Prepare financial statements
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns
  • Plan, assign, and review staff's work
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Develop and document business processes to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP principles

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Relevant certification (e.g., CMA or CPA) will be preferred
  • General computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Accounting tools: Familiarity with accounting software packages, like Xero and QuickBooks
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
