Job Title: Design Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team at Carrier Global Corporation. As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating 3D models, drawings, and BOMs to support the engineering group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work on new product development tasks, cost reduction projects, and sustaining projects in a supportive team environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Design, Engineering, Prototype Labs, Manufacturing, and Marketing, to develop new products, reduce costs, and sustain engineering activities.
- Prepare necessary component and assembly drawings by following design and standard work guidelines and support the release of these in the PLM system, Windchill.
- Gain hands-on experience in understanding design and assembly and generate Engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs) carefully.
- Perform prototype testing and evaluations, root cause analysis on products and design/production processes, and participate in engineering tasks and projects with significant scope and complexity.
- Perform drawing reviews through the ECO process and ensure timely and accurate execution of engineering change orders.
- Be accountable for project activities assigned and lead assigned project activities independently without much supervision towards project milestones.
- Develop excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate a willingness to learn and advance your skillset.
- Be willing to travel (if and when needed) to interact with offshore teams and develop domain knowledge as needed.
- Work with the CAE team and support in geometry cleanup to prep models for CFD and FEA.
- Develop good working relationships with onsite global teams.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 4 to 6 years of experience in product design and development.
- Hands-on experience in CAD tools such as Creo (Pro-E) / Solidworks.
- Strong hands-on experience on Engineering Change management processes (ECR/ECN/ECO) and PLM tools like Windchill.
