Research Chemist

Foundation for Neglected Disease Research is a non-profit organization dedicated to discovering and developing novel therapeutics, diagnostics, and devices for diseases with a high socio-economic impact.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and executing synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programs. This includes tracking SAR and optimizing potency, selectivity, and properties of small molecules for research programs.

• Main Responsibilities
• Design and execute synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programmes
• Track SAR and optimizing potency, selectivity, and properties of small molecules for research programs
• Perform purification and structural characterization of compounds
• Troubleshoot synthetic problems and optimize reaction conditions

Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry and/or a PhD in organic chemistry / medicinal chemistry. Postdoctoral experience in organic chemistry / medicinal chemistry is highly desirable but not required.

• M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related field
• PhD in organic chemistry / medicinal chemistry
• Postdoc in organic chemistry / Medicinal chemistry (Optional)
• 0-4 years of hands-on experience in working on bench, preferably in an industry

Candidates should be skilled in multistep organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and compound isolation. Proficiency in chromatography (TLC, column, flash), spectroscopic analysis (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC), and purification techniques (recrystallization, precipitation, others) is essential.
