Mechanical Design Lead

We are seeking an accomplished Mechanical Design Lead to drive the design and development of mechanical systems from concept to detailed execution. This leadership role involves overseeing a design team, ensuring design quality, managing project milestones, and collaborating across functions to deliver innovative and robust solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create process layouts and designs that meet functional requirements.
  • Prepare and review part and process data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop concept-level designs that align with project objectives.
  • Review and finalize concept layouts to ensure they meet project specifications.
  • Delegate tasks to team members, monitor progress, and maintain focus on project objectives.
  • Supervise team members to ensure adherence to functional system requirements.
  • Take ownership of design quality, output, timeliness, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage standard design programs and their usage.
  • Plan and monitor design costs to ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to meet project deadlines, resolve issues, and ensure clarity and smooth handovers.
  • Lead large-scale projects with targets of 30-35 Cr annually.
  • Comply with Quality Management Systems (QMS) standards.
  • Analyze and verify calculations for accuracy and correctness.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation plans to prevent project delays.
  • Review detailed designs for completeness and correctness.
  • Provide leadership on deliverables, including planning, effort estimation, time management, cost budgeting, risk anticipation, full kit reviews, issue prevention, and analytical skills.
  • Conduct functional and technical reviews, and develop risk mitigation plans.
Required Skills:
  • Demonstrated expertise in process layout and design.
  • Strong background in concept and detailed design preparation.
  • Proven ability in team leadership, delegation, and supervision.
  • Experience in managing design quality, timelines, and budgets.
  • Knowledge of standard design programs and QMS systems.
  • Proficiency in analytical calculations, risk identification, and mitigation.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle large-scale projects.
